Why is my subscription linked to another account?

Updated September 18, 2026 · For Cocoon memberships purchased through the App Store

Overview

If subscribing or restoring purchases on iPhone or iPad says the purchase is linked to another Cocoon account, the Apple ID on your device has usually already subscribed for a different Cocoon account.

This can be confusing, especially if you believe you are signed in to the right account. Here is why it happens and what to do.

The message you may see

“Your Apple ID subscription is linked to another Cocoon account. Sign in to the original account used for purchase, or visit hicocoon.com for support.”

This means the subscription is already bound to another Cocoon account. Your current account cannot use it or create another subscription with the same Apple ID.

What to do

Sign in to the Cocoon account used for the original purchase

If you have an active subscription:

  1. Sign out in the app: Account → Account settings → Sign out.
  2. Sign in with the Cocoon account you used when purchasing.

Your subscription and benefits should appear in the original account. If you cannot remember which account it was, find the subscription in iPhone Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions and check the phone number or email you used on the purchase date.

Do not repurchase from another account

An Apple ID can have only one Cocoon membership subscription. Purchasing from a different Cocoon account will not grant a second entitlement and may cause order confusion. A separate Cocoon account needs a separate Apple ID to purchase and manage its own subscription.

Request a refund for unintended charges

Apple handles refunds for App Store purchases. Visit Report a Problem with Apple to submit a request. We can help investigate, but Apple must process the refund.

Frequently asked questions

How do App Store subscriptions work?
A Cocoon membership purchased on iPhone or iPad is linked to both your Apple ID and the Cocoon account signed in at purchase. That Apple ID cannot subscribe for another Cocoon account. Switching Cocoon accounts and subscribing or restoring purchases can therefore trigger this message, even on the same device.
Can I transfer a subscription to another Cocoon account?
No. App Store subscriptions cannot be transferred between Cocoon accounts.
Can multiple Cocoon accounts share one subscription?
No. Each subscription is linked to one Cocoon account.
What if I created a new Cocoon account after subscribing?
Sign in to the account used for the original purchase to access that subscription.
Will reinstalling the app help?
No. Reinstalling does not change the linked account.
Can I upgrade or change plans?
Sign in with the original purchasing account, then use Membership plans to upgrade or change billing periods. Apple applies its upgrade billing rules and benefits switch immediately. Another Cocoon account cannot manage that subscription.
What if I was charged despite this message?
First check the original Cocoon account. If the subscription is missing there too, use Report a Problem with Apple to request a refund, and send us the transaction time and product name so we can investigate.
Does this restriction apply to one-time capacity resets?
No. Capacity resets are consumable products credited to the Cocoon account signed in at purchase, independently of subscription binding.

Still unable to use your subscription? Email us the purchase time, product name, and currently signed-in account. We usually reply within 1–2 business days. Do not send passwords or verification codes.
